1.4112

Quick Facts

EN 1.4122 is a chromium martensitic stainless steel with molybdenum addition. IT is characterized by its outstanding post heat treatment mechanical properties and corrosion resistance which is comparable / better than grade 1.4016. It has chromium content up to 17% which contributes to its better corrosion resistance compare to 13% chromium grades such as the 1.4006.

Typical Applications

  • Automotive industry
  • Construction
  • Die and cutting tools
  • Food and beverage industry
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Pump shafts

Industry Specifications

Machinability

The 1.4122 is corrosive resistant in media with low aggressiveness and low chlorine-ion concentration. Pitting susceptibility of the grade is lower due to the molybdenum additive. Polishing the surface will optimize the corrosion resistance. Welding is not usually done with this grade.

Weldability: not possible
Machinability: 5 (1 = poor – 10 = good)
Polishability: yes
Corrosion class: 2 – 3 (0 = poor – 5 = good)
